Fermented apple tea (the simplest way)

Fragrant, natural, and very tasty tea created by the fermentation method from apple leaves - a successful, healthier alternative to store-bought products. You can make preparations from strawberry, elderberry, bird cherry, blackberry, or pear leaves in the same way. For creating fermented tea, it is recommended to use only high-quality leaves, free from defects, damage, and debris, collected from trees and shrubs located in ecologically clean places. This way, you are guaranteed to get not only fragrant but also high-quality beverage.

Tea based on apple leaves has a beautiful rich amber hue and a pleasant apple aroma. Depending on the time spent on fermentation, you can make tea of any strength.

This recipe describes the simplest and least energy-consuming way to prepare a preparation from leaves. The entire process takes place in a glass jar, which significantly saves time and effort in creating a natural homemade drink. After the apple leaves "reveal" their aroma and change color, you can proceed to dry the raw material. Depending on your preferences, you can dry whole leaves, as well as chop them with a knife or electric meat grinder. In each case, you will have a delicious, nutritious, aromatic, and exquisite apple tea.

  1. Choose clean apple leaves without damage and defects. For fermentation, it is advisable to use raw materials right after collection. If you decide to wash the leaves under water, place them on a napkin to remove excess moisture. Start placing the processed raw materials in a glass (dry) container. Tightly pack the preparation. This is a mandatory step in making fermented tea.

  3. Cover the preparation with dark (dense) fabric and place it in a warm place (partial shade).

  4. Depending on the air temperature in the room and the desired strength of the tea, the fermentation time can vary from 1 to 3 days. After 20-24 hours, the leaves will start to darken, and the aroma will become more intense and pleasant.

  5. After the preparation acquires the necessary texture, proceed to its further processing.

  6. Chop the leaves by any convenient method for you or use whole apple leaves for making tea.

  7. Spread the raw material on a baking sheet (layer 1-2 cm), send it to the oven (90-100 degrees). Dry the fragrant mixture with the door slightly open.

  8. The drying time of the fermented apple tea can vary from 2 to 6 hours. Pour the dried raw material into a linen or cotton bag, hang it on a rope, and leave it in a dry room or outside for 2-3 days. After that, place the fermented apple tea in suitable dry containers. Use the preparation for a fragrant drink for 6-10 months.
