Braised cabbage with sausages
Such an unpretentious dish as braised cabbage with sausages in a skillet will save the hostess at any moment. After all, it is prepared quickly and from simple products, while the satiety is provided by the sausages, which are already cooked and just need to be simmered a little. Cabbage is available for sale year-round, but it should be considered that young specimens from the new harvest cook much faster than autumn white cabbage heads.

Ingredients
- young cabbage – 1 head weighing 1000 g;
- white onion – 120 g;
- carrot – 150 g;
- sausages – 450 g;
- refined vegetable oil – 40 ml;
- tomato paste – 80 g;
- bay leaf – 1 pc;
- water if necessary – 50-70 ml;
- salt, pepper – to taste.
Preparation
1. Prepare the ingredients for making braised cabbage with sausages in a skillet. Any cabbage is suitable for braising; just a firm white cabbage will take about 10 minutes longer to braise than the young one. If the head is very juicy, then you will need very little water – up to 50 milliliters.

2. Cut the cabbage in half and thinly shred it. It is convenient to use a special shredder for this, although a regular knife will also work.

3. Transfer the shredded cabbage to a wide bowl and salt it, simultaneously kneading the cabbage strips – this will shorten the cooking time. Moreover, salting and mixing a large volume of cabbage in a skillet is not very convenient.

4. Cut the onion into strips.

5. Grate the carrot coarsely.

6. Remove the sausages from the acetate film and cut them into wide circles.

7. In heated oil, fry the onion until the first signs of transparency.

8. Add the carrot to it. Sauté everything for a couple of minutes over medium heat.

9. Place all the cabbage on top. At first, it seems that the mound of cabbage is very large and will not fit in the skillet. But literally after 2-3 minutes, the whole volume will settle down.

10. As the cabbage settles, mix it until it all sinks to the bottom of the skillet.

11. Cover the skillet with a lid and keep it on low heat for 5-7 minutes.

12. Next, add the tomato paste and bay leaf.

13. Pour in water. There should not be much – only enough to prevent the lower layers from burning.

14. Mix everything, evenly distributing the tomato paste.

15. Add the sausages.

16. Simmer the mixture under the lid for about 5 minutes, after which the sausage circles will swell and the dish will be fully cooked.

Despite the fact that braised cabbage with sausages in a skillet is a budget-friendly and quick dish to prepare, its taste is very worthy and pleases both adults and children.
