Five-Minute Apple Jam

Five-Minute Apple Jam

The quite popular Five-Minute Apple Jam fully lives up to its name. It can indeed be made in just a few minutes. But this all depends on the volume of apples: if there are fewer than a kilogram, the jam needs to be boiled for literally 5 minutes; however, as the quantity of fruit increases, the boiling time also increases. The main thing is that all the apple slices are evenly heated in the syrup and become transparent.

The recipe uses only 2 ingredients – the apples themselves (1 kilogram) and sugar. The amount of sugar varies from 400 grams to 1 kilogram depending on the sweetness of the fruit. For very sweet apples, a minimal amount of sugar is sufficient. The jam is prepared in its own juice without adding water.

Yield: 1 jar (750 g).

Preparation time: 2.5 hours (taking into account the waiting time for the apples to release juice).

Ingredients

  • apples – 1 kg;
  • white sugar – 400 g.

Preparation

1. Prepare the necessary components for making Five-Minute Apple Jam. You can use absolutely any variety of apples (this will affect the amount of sugar used).

2. Wash the fruit and wipe it with a towel. Do not peel the skin – it helps the pieces retain their shape during cooking. Only remove the core, and slice the apples into thin wedges (about 5 millimeters).

6. Cover the pot with a lid and let it sit on the table for at least 2.5 hours. During this time (possibly even earlier), the apples will release the juice needed for cooking the jam. Sterilize the jars and lids.

10. During the boiling process, constantly dip the apples into the syrup and stir them. Boil the jam for 5-7 minutes. For a large volume of fruit, it’s better to use a special basin for making jam or a wide bowl – this way the apples will spread over a larger area, and it won’t take much time for them to soak in the sugar syrup. By the end of the cooking process, the apple slices will become transparent while retaining their shape.

11. Fill the prepared jar with hot jam right up to the top.

12. Tightly screw on the lid and turn the jar upside down to check the reliability of the sealing. If everything is fine and the syrup does not leak, return the jar to its original position and let it cool naturally.
