  • medium-sized carrot – 1 pc;
  • medium white onion – 1 pc;
  • red tomatoes – 3-4 pcs;
  • odorless vegetable oil – 30 ml;
  • salt – to taste.

Preparation

1. Prepare the ingredients. Cabbage rolls do not need to be thawed before cooking – take them directly from the freezer. Instead of fresh tomatoes, you can use tomato paste in the amount of 1.5-2 tablespoons, diluted with 300 milliliters of water.

2. First, you need to prepare the sauce in which the frozen semi-finished products will be stewed. For this, grate the carrot coarsely.

3. Chop the onion into medium cubes.

4. Cut off the stem and hard parts around it from the tomatoes. Cut the fruits into several pieces and blend them into tomato juice.

5. Heat the oil in a frying pan and sauté the onion until it changes color slightly.

6. Add the carrot to it. Sauté everything together for about 3-4 minutes.

7. Next, pour in the tomato juice, add salt to taste. You can also add 1 teaspoon of sugar (level) to balance the acidity. Boil the sauce for 2 minutes.

8. Spread the first layer of vegetable sauce on the bottom of a thick-walled pot or Dutch oven (so that it completely covers the entire surface).

9. Lay out half of the specified amount of cabbage rolls.

10. Cover them with another layer of vegetables.

12. Put the remaining sauce on top. In height, it should reach almost the very top of the preparations. During the stewing process, the frozen cabbage rolls will release moisture, so they will add about 2 centimeters of liquid to the sauce. If the pot is too wide and there is not enough sauce, you can add ready broth or regular water, just salt it a little. 13. Stew the cabbage rolls under a lid for 30-35 minutes.
