
Lazy cabbage rolls without rice
If you don't have time for the meticulous preparation of classic cabbage rolls, then make these lazy cabbage rolls. This recipe gives us the opportunity to get a dish that is just as filling and tasty, but much quicker, without any hassle. We will remove rice from the ingredients, making the cabbage rolls more "meaty". Now the cabbage rolls can be served with any side dish, and the tomato sauce will make the dish more appetizing and colorful.
Cooking time: 50 minutes.
Yield: 5 servings (weight of 1 serving - 160 g).
Caloric content: 133 kcal per 100 grams of the dish.
Ingredients
- ground meat - 500 g;
- onion - 1 pc;
- sour cream - 100 g;
- cabbage - 300 g;
- tomato juice - 1 cup;
- bay leaf - 2 pcs;
- allspice - 3 pcs;
- tomato paste - 1 tbsp;
- paprika - 1 tsp;
- black pepper (peas) - 6 pcs;
- salt;
- vegetable oil - ½ tbsp.
Preparation
1. Lay out the ingredients for making cabbage rolls on the table. Preheat the oven to t=+200 ⁰C.

2. Peel the onion and cut it into small pieces. Finely shred the cabbage. Cut the long strips of cabbage across so that very small cubes are obtained.

3. Add the shredded cabbage and onion to the ground meat. Also add finely chopped herbs for aroma. Add paprika, salt, and black pepper.

4. Mix the ingredients until you have a homogeneous mass.

5. Compact the mixture. Wet your hands with water and form oval shapes. This makes 10 medium-sized cabbage rolls.

6. Grease a baking sheet generously with vegetable oil and place the formed oval cabbage rolls on it. Place the baking sheet in the sufficiently heated oven for 5 minutes so that the cabbage rolls form a crust on top and retain their shape later.

7. Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. For this, dilute the tomato paste in the tomato juice, add sour cream, salt, paprika, and black pepper.

8. Whisk using a whisk. Taste, and if desired, add a pinch of sugar.

9. Pour the prepared sauce over the cabbage rolls in the baking sheet, add the peppercorns and bay leaf. Reduce the heat to t=+180 ⁰C and cook for about 30 minutes. If you want to have a lot of sauce left, you can cover the baking sheet with foil.

10. After the time has elapsed, take the cabbage rolls out of the oven, and then remove the bay leaves from the sauce. Lazy cabbage rolls without rice are ready.

11. Garnish with herbs and serve the cabbage rolls hot.
