Quick snack of tomatoes

Incredibly delicious snack made from fresh tomatoes, the flavor of which becomes even more pronounced during the marinating process in a spicy dressing.

A pinch of your favorite spices can be added to the spicy dressing.

Instead of garlic cloves, try using its young leaves. The aroma of the dish will be less sharp, and the taste will be softer and more pleasant.

Be sure to use young carrots or their leaves, as this gives an incredible flavor to the dish.

Instead of vinegar, lemon juice or a solution of citric acid will be suitable. Adjust the amount of salt to your taste.

  • ripe medium-sized tomatoes – 5 pcs. (500 g);
  • garlic – 3-4 cloves;
  • fresh carrot – 30-50 g;
  • fresh dill, parsley, and basil – 2 sprigs each;
  • salt – a scant teaspoon;
  • sugar – a pinch;
  • fruit vinegar – 0.5-1 tablespoon.

Preparation

  1. Finely chop the washed herbs. Mince the garlic with a knife or crush it through a press. Grate the carrot (preferably young) on a grater with small holes. If possible, add a sprig of chopped carrot leaves, as this will give a pleasant aroma to the snack.

  2. Place the prepared garlic, carrot, and herbs into a deep dish, pour in the vinegar, and add salt and sugar. Optionally, add ground black pepper at the tip of a knife. Thoroughly mix all components to release the juice.

  3. Wash the tomatoes, remove the stem attachment point, and cut the fruits into round slices about 1-1.5 cm thick.

  4. On the bottom of a deep container (a jar or a plastic container with a lid will do), sprinkle a little spicy dressing, then place a layer of tomato slices, and sprinkle dressing on top again. Fill the container in this manner, lightly pressing down the contents so the tomatoes release a little juice.

  5. Close the jar with a lid and put it in a cool place for 1 hour. During this time, the tomatoes will absorb the aroma of the herbs and garlic. This snack can be stored longer, and the tomatoes will become slightly salted.

  6. Before serving, arrange the tomato slices on a plate, drizzle with mayonnaise, and garnish with fresh herbs.
