Apple jam in slices
Apple jam in slices is very tasty and aromatic jam, in which caramelized slices of apples are coated in sweet syrup. This jam can be used in the preparation of sweet pastries (especially delicious in puff pastry pies), but you can also just eat it with a spoon - it is simply an indescribable delight. Preparing apple jam in slices is not difficult at all, but you need to know a few secrets, which I will share with you later.
Ingredients
Show ingredients
- apples - 1.5 kg;
- sugar - 1 kg.
Preparation
- In a suitably sized pot with a thick bottom (preferably non-stick), place about a third of the apples, then pour about 300 g of sugar, another layer of apples, sugar, and the last layer of apples should also be sprinkled with sugar. Gently shake the pot to distribute the sugar more evenly. Do not stir the apples now or during cooking, otherwise the slices will be damaged and turn into mush. Leave the apples with sugar for 4-6 hours so that they release juice.
- When there is enough juice, put the pot on the fire and bring to a boil. Now the juice will be released even more intensively, and all the remaining sugar will melt. Boil the jam for 5 minutes over high heat and remove from the heat. There is no need to stir the jam, just shake the pot so that the apple slices are evenly distributed in the syrup. Do not worry that the jam will burn, there is so much syrup in it that it won't have time to burn in 5 minutes.
