Five-Minute Apple Jam
The quite popular Five-Minute Apple Jam fully lives up to its name. It can indeed be made in just a few minutes. But this all depends on the volume of apples: if there are fewer than a kilogram, the jam needs to be boiled for literally 5 minutes; however, as the quantity of fruit increases, the boiling time also increases. The main thing is that all the apple slices are evenly heated in the syrup and become transparent.
The recipe uses only 2 ingredients – the apples themselves (1 kilogram) and sugar. The amount of sugar varies from 400 grams to 1 kilogram depending on the sweetness of the fruit. For very sweet apples, a minimal amount of sugar is sufficient. The jam is prepared in its own juice without adding water.
Preparation time: 2.5 hours (taking into account the waiting time for the apples to release juice).
Ingredients
Show ingredients
- apples – 1 kg;
- white sugar – 400 g.
Preparation
- During the boiling process, constantly dip the apples into the syrup and stir them. Boil the jam for 5-7 minutes. For a large volume of fruit, it’s better to use a special basin for making jam or a wide bowl – this way the apples will spread over a larger area, and it won’t take much time for them to soak in the sugar syrup. By the end of the cooking process, the apple slices will become transparent while retaining their shape.
- Tightly screw on the lid and turn the jar upside down to check the reliability of the sealing. If everything is fine and the syrup does not leak, return the jar to its original position and let it cool naturally.
The Five-Minute Apple Jam can be stored even at room temperature for over a year. This preparation can be added to pies, pancakes, ice cream, porridge, and so on. Well, having tea with apple jam in winter is a mandatory ritual in many families.
