Apple compote for winter without sterilization

There are many ways to preserve apple compote for winter. We offer you one of the simple and quick recipes for this homemade drink – without pre-boiling and sterilization. Cut apples are poured with boiling water twice (the second time with sugar added directly to the jars with apples), after which they are sealed. As a result, a delicious and aromatic apple compote for winter without sterilization is obtained with minimal effort.

Time for preparation: 35 minutes.

Yield: 2 jars of 3 liters.

Caloric content: 36 kcal per 100 grams of the dish.

Ingredients

  • sugar – 400-500 g;
  • water – 5 l;
  • apples – 1-1.5 kg.

Preparation

1. Rinse the picked apples well under running water.

2. Then cut them into quarters, removing the core from the fruits in advance.

3. Place the chopped apples into previously sterilized three-liter jars, filling them one third full.

Tip: If you want the compote to be more concentrated, with a rich apple aroma, fill the jars with apples halfway.

4. Pour boiling water over the apples in the jars, then leave them to infuse (covering the jars with lids beforehand) until completely cool (this will take approximately 20 – 30 minutes). When the future compote cools down, drain it from the jars and boil it a second time.

5. Add sugar to each jar.

6. Then pour in the boiling compote (to the neck of the jar) and seal the jars with the conservation.
