Gravy for cutlets with tomato paste

Gravy for cutlets with tomato paste is always hearty and very tasty. The cutlets turn out juicy and tender. This gravy can be served with any side dish, whether it's porridge, pasta, or mashed potatoes, and it will always be very tasty and nutritious. You can cook the cutlets separately from the gravy, and only when serving cover the side dish with gravy along with the cutlet. But I prefer to stew the cutlets in fragrant tomato gravy, then they become even more delicious.

Cooking time: 40 minutes.

Caloric content: 177 kcal per 100 grams of the dish.

Yield: 4 portions.

Ingredients

  • minced pork and beef - 500 g;
  • onion - 2-3 pcs;
  • bread - 2 slices;
  • egg - 1 pc;
  • tomato paste - 50 g;
  • flour - 1 tablespoon;
  • water (broth) - 180 ml;
  • salt - 1 teaspoon;
  • allspice - 1 pinch;
  • vegetable oil;
  • herbs.

Cooking

1. Prepare all the necessary ingredients. I use homemade minced meat. I passed the meat through a meat grinder along with 1 large onion. Also, for the minced meat, soak 2 slices of bread in milk or water, then squeeze out the liquid, crumble the bread, and add it to the minced meat, you can also pass it through a meat grinder.

2. Add 1 egg, half a teaspoon of salt, and a little allspice to the minced meat. Mix everything well until you have a homogeneous mass.

3. Form cutlets from the prepared minced meat and place them in a heated skillet with vegetable oil. To make it easier to shape the cutlets, dip your hands in cold water.

4. Fry the cutlets until golden brown on both sides.

5. While the cutlets are frying, chop one small or two small onions into small cubes. When the cutlets are ready or almost ready (this is the case when you can stop cooking before fully done, so they don't get too overcooked), remove them from the skillet, and send the chopped onion in their place.

6. Sauté the onion for literally a minute, add tomato paste and flour, and mix.

7. Then pour in a little less than a cup of water or broth. Stir well, add a little salt and pepper. Simmer the gravy over medium-low heat until it thickens.

8. Now return the cutlets to the skillet and stew them in the sauce for about 4-5 minutes.
