Layered salad with sausage and potatoes

It’s easy to surprise gourmets if you engage your imagination while preparing any dish. For example, you can make a simple and delicious layered salad with sausage, potatoes, and pickled cucumber and turn it into a special treat. Sometimes, all it takes is to add a unique ingredient or change the usual form.

This simple and tasty salad can be prepared for an ordinary home dinner or served in portions, executing it in miniature, on a festive table. The dish uses simple and accessible ingredients, but the highlight is in the special sequence of layering and the unique form of the treat.

It's hard to count how many presentation ideas for themed feasts can be conceived during preparation. For instance, in the center of the dish made with olives, you can arrange a scarab or a spider, and the salad can be confidently served for Halloween. If the dish is prepared for Valentine's Day, you can decorate it with berries arranged in the center or in the shape of a heart.

  • large potato – 1 pc;
  • carrot – 1 pc;
  • egg – 2 pcs;
  • garlic – 1 clove;
  • cooked sausage – 100 g;
  • pickled cucumber – 2 pcs;
  • mayonnaise – 70 ml;
  • parsley – 10 g;
  • processed cheese – 1 pack;
  • olives – for decoration;
  • salt, pepper – to taste.

Preparation

  1. For this salad, you will need culinary molds (ring and square). Place the molds on a large plate. The diamond should be inside the ring.

  2. Lay the first layer of boiled and grated potatoes in the ring. Season with salt and pepper, then drizzle with mayonnaise. Do not fill the square mold yet. Let it sit for a couple of minutes for the mayonnaise to soak the potato shavings.

  3. Grate the raw carrot with garlic and mix well.

  4. Place the first layer into the square mold made of carrot shavings.

  5. Cut the processed cheese into large strips and lay it in the square mold on top of the carrot. Drizzle with a little mayonnaise.

  6. Cut the sausage into cubes, chop the parsley. Lay the sausage layer around the perimeter, and fill the center with parsley.

  8. Generously drizzle both molds with the mayonnaise mixture.

  9. Boil and peel the eggs, separating the yolks and whites. Grate them.

  10. Lay the grated yolk around the perimeter, and fill the central mold to the top, lightly compacting, with the egg white shavings.

  11. Carefully and slowly remove the square and take off the ring. The salad is ready. Now we will decorate it.

  12. Now it’s time to connect your imagination to the process of preparation. Decorate the simple and delicious layered salad to your taste. For example, make a spider out of olives, a scarab, or create an interesting ornament from vegetables and berries. The dish is ready, but before serving, let’s put it in the refrigerator.

Culinary tips for the recipe

  • If you don’t have culinary salad forms and rings in your household, you can replace them with cups, shot glasses, or tin (silicone) baking molds.
  • For the salad, it is important that certain ingredients (as specified in the recipe) are exactly in the middle and inside the treat.
  • Processed cheese can be grated instead of cutting it.
  • It will taste better if you mix mayonnaise with garlic passed through a press before drizzling the layers.
  • If preparing the salad for Valentine's Day, you can shape it like two hearts.
