They're remarkably simple to make but unbelievably aromatic — fresh warm buns brushed with garlicky herb butter become a dish in their own right. Knead the dough with warm water or milk, yeast, sugar, oil and salt and let it rise for 1-1.5 hours. Shape into small rolls, arrange them touching each other in a baking dish, proof for another 20-30 minutes and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20-25 minutes until golden. Immediately brush the hot buns generously with melted butter mixed with crushed garlic and fresh herbs. Proportions for 12 buns inside.
