Pork stew in a slow cooker at home

Pork stew in a slow cooker at home is very simple to prepare and requires minimal effort. Most often, stew is prepared directly in jars in the oven, but if there is no oven, or you are afraid that the jars will crack during cooking, the ideal option is to cook stew in a slow cooker and can it in sterilized jars. The result will be the same, and the process is incredibly easy. In a slow cooker, you don't have to worry about the meat burning during prolonged stewing; it can be left even overnight and the stew can be canned in the morning. Stew can be made from pork, beef, chicken, or duck. Stew made from poultry is particularly delicious.

Cooking time: 6 hours.

Yield: 3 servings.

Caloric content: 257 kcal per 100 grams of the dish.

Ingredients

  • pork - 1.5 kg;
  • salt - 1 tsp;
  • black pepper - 6 pcs;
  • bay leaves - 2 pcs.

Preparation

1. Prepare all the necessary ingredients. I prefer to use fatty pork; I have brisket. During the 6 hours of cooking in the slow cooker, the fat will render, and the meat will not burn but will remain juicy and tender.

2. Cut the meat into medium-sized pieces. If you have fatty meat like mine, cut it into larger chunks so that when the fat renders, the meat doesn't become too small. If the meat is lean, you can cut it smaller.

3. Place the meat in the slow cooker bowl, add salt, a few bay leaves, and black peppercorns.

4. Set the "Stew" program for 6 hours, close the lid, and let the slow cooker do its job.

5. After 30 minutes, quite a bit of juice and fat will have rendered from the meat, about 200 ml of liquid at the bottom of the slow cooker. More fat will continue to render, and the meat will stew rather than fry.

6. After 6 hours, the volume of the meat has significantly reduced, there is almost no fat left, and the meat itself has become very tender and falls apart at the slightest pressure.

7. Sterilize the jars in any convenient way and fill them with the stew, then seal with metal lids. Pour the fat that remained at the bottom into the jars as well. I ended up with two jars of 350 ml each.

8. Store the jars in a cool, dark place. This stew is a quick snack option at home or outdoors, and it can also serve as a base for various dishes. Bon appetit!
