Ingredients
- tomatoes – 500 g;
- onion – 70 g (one large head);
- garlic – 1 clove per jar;
- bay leaf – 1 leaf per jar;
- odorless vegetable oil – 1 tsp per jar;
- allspice – 3-4 pcs;
- black pepper – 6-8 peas;
- fresh dill – bunch;
- purified water – 1 l;
- rock salt – 25 g;
- sugar – 100 g;
- 9% vinegar – 50 ml.
Preparation
1. Prepare the ingredients. The marinade calculation is provided for 1 liter of water, although a little less will be needed for 2 half-liter jars. However, to avoid mistakes in proportions, it is better to make a solution with a reserve. Since sealing is not subjected to sterilization, special attention should be paid to the cleanliness of the jars – they should be washed with soda or mustard, and then sterilized by any means along with the lids.

2. Wash dense fleshy tomatoes, cut out the stem, and cut into 2 or 4 pieces depending on the size of the fruit.

3. Slice the onion into rings, which are then separated into individual rings.

4. Place some onion, pepper, garlic (cut into slices), and dill at the bottom of the jar. It is worth noting that the onion in such sealing turns out to be very tasty and can be used later for various salads.

5. Lay the first layer of tomatoes tightly, but do not press them down with your hands; you can simply tap the jar on the table.

6. Next, lay a second same layer of onions and tomatoes, filling the glass container to the very top.

7. Boil ordinary clean water and pour it over the prepared blanks.

8. Cover the jars with lids and leave for 15 minutes, so the contents heat up.

9. Then drain the water into a measuring saucepan, checking the necessary amount for the marinade.

10. Add salt and sugar to the drained water in the necessary proportions.

11. Boil the marinade for a couple of minutes.

12. At the end, add vinegar and remove the saucepan from the heat.

13. Add 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil to each jar (1 tablespoon of oil is needed for a liter jar).

14. Pour the marinade to the very top of the jar.

15. Tightly screw on the lid and turn the blank upside down.

16. Wrap the jars in a large towel and leave them like this until completely cool.

Prepared sliced tomatoes with onions and oil for winter without sterilization can be stored even at room temperature for a year or even longer. In such sealing, the tomatoes preserve their natural taste in the best way, and these jars can be called "pieces of summer in winter."
