4. Place the fish in the chosen container with the cooled brine (for example, in a deep frying pan).

5. Weigh down the fish slightly so that it is completely submerged in the liquid.

6. If the herring is salted in a jar, bend it slightly so that, just like in the deep frying pan, it is fully submerged in the brine.

7. Now, place the containers in the refrigerator and depending on the desired degree of saltiness, wait for 1-3 days.
