Homemade Croutons

You can prepare delicious, natural croutons at home without any chemical additives or preservatives. Depending on your preferences, you can use white or rye bread, a baguette, or any type of bread you have on hand. It does not matter if the bread is stale or fresh.

Preparation time: 30 minutes.

Calories: 283 kcal per 100 grams of the dish.

Serves: 3.

Ingredients

  • baguette – ½ - ¼ piece;
  • salt – to taste;
  • herbes de Provence or Italian herb mix – 1.5 tsp;
  • olive oil – 1-2 tsp.

Preparation

1. Cut the baguette into pieces about one to two centimeters thick. Then slice each piece lengthwise into smaller pieces.

2. Place the cut pieces of baguette into a deep bowl. Lightly salt them. Add the herbes de Provence or Italian herb mix. Drizzle with olive oil and toss everything together well. This will ensure the spices and oil are evenly distributed among the croutons.

3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the croutons evenly on the sheet. Place them in a preheated oven at 150 degrees Celsius for about 15 to 20 minutes. During this time, the snacks will dry out and become lightly golden.

4. Once the croutons are dried, remove them from the oven and let them cool. After cooling, they are ready to enjoy. It is worth noting that these homemade croutons can be used not only as a snack but also added to various salads.
