Ingredients
- boiled potatoes (mashed) – 1 kg 300 g;
- minced meat (beef) – 600 g;
- onion – 1 pc. (large);
- chicken egg (raw) – 1 pc;
- butter – 80 g;
- milk (warm) – 50-70 g;
- salt – to taste;
- black pepper – ⅓ tsp;
- chili pepper (flakes) – ¼ tsp;
- coriander – ½ tsp;
- oregano – ½ tsp;
- hard cheese – optional;
- parsley and cilantro – ⅓ bunch.
Preparation
1. Prepare the minced meat. Beef is perfect for this dish. The meat should be minced through a meat grinder with a coarse mesh.
2. Boil the potatoes for mash. You can skip adding salt to the potatoes.
3. While the potatoes are boiling, prepare the meat filling. Chop the onion into small cubes.
4. Place the onion in a frying pan. You will need a little vegetable oil for frying; heat it in the pan. Fry the onion until translucent.
5. Add the minced meat to the fried onion. Fry the meat over high heat, stirring constantly. We do not want the meat to stew, but it should not be dry either.
6. For the minced meat, you will need spices; prepare them according to the list or use your own taste. Season the minced meat with salt and add the spices.
7. You will also need cilantro and parsley. Chop them finely.
8. Add the prepared herbs to the pan with the minced meat. Mix the filling and remove from heat. The meat filling is ready.
9. The potatoes are almost cooked; prepare the ingredients for delicious and tender mashed potatoes.
10. Drain all the liquid from the pot with the potatoes. Add butter, salt, and mash the potatoes.
11. To keep the puree in shape, we add a raw egg to the potatoes. We continue to mash the puree.
12. We heat the milk to a warm state and also add it to the potatoes. We whip the puree until smooth. For fluffy puree, you can use a special attachment with a blender.
13. We grease the ceramic dish with the remaining butter.
14. Visually, we divide the potato puree into two equal parts. We place one part at the bottom of the dish.
15. We place the meat filling as the second layer. The meat turned out incredibly aromatic, thanks to the spices.
16. We again lay out the potatoes as the top layer. While the puree is hot, we need to place small pieces of butter on top.
17. The butter will immediately become soft, making it easy to cover the potato casserole with a spatula.

19. We cover the potato casserole with meat filling with a layer of grated cheese. We send the dish to the oven, preheated to 180°C, for thirty-five to forty minutes. Until golden brown.
20. We take the casserole out of the oven and lightly sprinkle it with oregano. On the hot potatoes, the oregano released its aroma even more.
