Decoupage of Easter eggs

Decoupage of Easter eggs

For the holiday, eggs are dyed not only with natural and artificial dyes. With the help of special paper napkins, you can do decoupage of Easter eggs, which will look very impressive and festive.

Decoupage of Easter eggs

This method is completely safe, as no varnish or glue is used as a fixer – paper fragments are glued with raw egg white and then dried. But for this, special napkins are needed – three-ply, with a fine pattern. Before decoupage, the eggs are boiled hard with the addition of salt.

Ingredients

  • white eggs;
  • napkins with a suitable pattern.

The decoupage process is very engaging and quick. The time spent depends on the number of eggs being decorated.

Preparation

  1. Prepare the ingredients, but keep in mind that 1 egg should be set aside for using the white as glue.

  4. To prevent the shells from cracking, add a small spoon of salt. From the moment of boiling, boil the eggs for 8-10 minutes.

  5. Separate the napkins into layers – the 2 white bottom layers will not be needed.

  6. Usually, paper fragments for decoupage are torn by hand (a ripped uneven edge is less noticeable on the surface being glued).

  7. But cut-out pictures look great on the eggshell too. How to prepare the images is a matter of taste.

  8. It’s more convenient to cut images for all eggs at once.

  9. With a soft brush, whisk the egg white.

  10. Place the image on the egg and very carefully, to avoid tearing the napkin, apply the white, moving the brush from the center of the fragment to its edges. Sometimes it is convenient to apply the napkin only to half of the egg, then dry it and continue to cover the second part (by touching the thin layer of wet paper with your hands, you can deform it, and the design will shift). An egg carton can be used as a drying stand.

  11. The fragments on the shell can be placed closely together, leaving no free spaces.

  12. But you can also glue pictures with some distance, so that the white surface is visible. It all depends on the chosen pattern or image.

  13. About 5 minutes will be needed for the glued napkins to dry, after which the eggs can be safely handled without fear that the design will smudge.

This is how decoupage of Easter eggs is done in such a simple way.
